Products

In VUFRAME® each individual Product should be represented by a single Standard SmartVu. This SmartVu can contain multiple Product Variations and multiple Product States.

For example:

  • Couch A -> SmartVu “Couch A”
  • Couch B -> SmartVu “Couch B”
  • etc.

Product Variations

A Product Variation shows the same product with a different surface, color or finish. Only one Product Variation can be selected at the same time. The first Product Variation will be the one the SmartVu displays when it is opened. You can change the order of the Product Variations anytime in the SmartVu Editor.

Your SmartVu needs to define at least one Product Variation.

Texture-based Variations

Possible Cases:

A. Simple Product – no variations

  • Create a single Product Variation entry and assign the 3D file of your product.

B. The same product in different colors

  • EITHER
    • Create a Product Variation entry for each color variation and assign an individual 3D file for each color.
      WARNING: generates larger file sizes – not recommended.
  • OR (recommended)
    • Create a Product Variation entry for each color variation and a assign the same 3D file which exposes the colored surfaces as texture slots.
    • Requirement: Your 3D item needs to expose overridable texture slots.

C. The same product in different sizes or shapes

  • EITHER
    • Create a Product Variation entry for each color variation and assign an individual 3D file for each size or shape.
  • OR
    • Create a Product Variation entry for each color variation and assign a 3D file which contains the data for each size or shape.
    • Add a Setup Action for the Product Variation to select the part of the 3D file which shows your specific size or shape, e.g. a 3D Command Action to set a specific layout of the 3D file.

Color-based Variations

Please note: currently you need to use a seperate, colored texture for each Product Variation. We’ll enable applying different colors to the same texture in the future.

Product States

A Product State shows the currently active Product Variation in a different state, e.g. “opened” vs. “closed” in case of a cupboard.
